plot failed...so satisfying

joblesshobo • 1 year ago

Failed miserably. Least she could do is to take a glance at the surrounding before starting her act.

When the plotter is dumb:

Ohms Nuttachai • 1 year ago

Can't be any more stupider. Like, how could she miss someone carrying a stack of documents lol

I'm surprised the princess helped so many people. Why didn't they animate it, it would've been lovely lol.

Monkey D. Luna • 1 year ago

yep, that came out of nowhere. i thought she was just reading and doesn't interact a lot with people this whole 4 years.

she was reading in the prince's office
as such she would end up being near a lot of info
also she would still move about the palace occasionally

dot.dot • 1 year ago

i felt this episode just skipped a lot. i get this is probably to get to the storys main plot, but i honestly think they couldve built an entire season dedicated to what they just went through. putting in hints and such about her helping them out and seeing her misunderstanding and feeling the prince is leaving her. it felt very rushed now. felt like this was the end of the season and that im waiting for season 2

fabulous max • 1 year ago

I know what you mean I could sense that even though I haven't read the manga although I'm excited to see what happens next and I'm glad they didn't drag out this first part since it seems like it would've been really predictable anyway

dot.dot • 1 year ago

When going for a show like this, it will be predictable regardless. But the moments they show as very heartfelt become just numb and pointless to us viewers since there was literally no build up of the relationships.
If they want high reward then they need time to build it up. I feel like I was robbed of something, but hopefully it pays out in later episodes

BniX • 1 year ago

Stereotypes considering bookworms irl tho...

Ricky Tham • 1 year ago

in the manga the scene the princess consult many people also only about one page, so in the anime they just cut it short

Veldora • 1 year ago

It would have.

Seosamh Wray • 1 year ago

Easy, Irene saw her from behind and was never on the stairs close enough to see the documents. She simply laid on the floor and cried out. Now as for the rest of her lies, that's pure bullshit that anybody could know it's false just by knowing Elianna's regular behaviour. Everybody knows that she isn't that sort of person and as the daughter of a relatively low family with little political power she doesn't have many enemies in high society. If you're going to try and frame somebody at least do the bare minimum of research as to whether your planned method is the slightest bit believable.
Although it's preferable if you don't try to frame somebody for something in the first place.

And this is where the story's plot bothers me: the title of duke/duchess is among the highest and most influential in a western monarchy(which this story is based in); the bearers would more often than not be even related to the royal family( like the younger/youngest siblings of the monarch or the younger/youngest offspring of said monarch, the spare heirs), at loosest a ducal family would be some form of cousins of the royal family, or of a past royal family(provided some military/political conflict led to a replacement, but we don't have any such hint)...
This all would explain why a duke's daughter was chosen as a fiancee to the heir apparent; in the olden days, for the sake of political stability, they didn't choose from the lower nobiliary ranks and that's how most European royal families ended up too closely related, just as they did with their own countries' highest noble houses(they'd always have some type of kissing cousins union). By extension, her family being ducal or rising too fast to that position would bring about enemies, of the family as a whole, or to her, since if her father earned the title through great scholarly(I suppose) achievements, they'd be deemed "new blood" and despised by "old blood" nobles and lower class members envying them. They'd still have serious influence if her father earned the title through some extremely useful intellectual contribution.

So, I'm not entirely sure who was missing on the research, the writer of the story, or the character. Yes, the fool was ridiculous with her 5 year old tantrum, but the world build is also very shaky right now, contradictory as well and borders on the huge flaws "fantasy" and "medieval" worlds of otoge and otoge based romances display...at least those are obviously and intentionally more childish, banking on old Disney antics and tropes, but they also seem self-aware of how much they're flanderising WE old history.
This story is trying to be a little bit more historically accurate, but it's so far failing big time.

Aiiko • 1 year ago

Are you even paying attention to the story? It doesn’t matter if royals of the past chose high ranking cousins or kings of another land for marriage. The fact is that the ml of this story has been in love with fl since childhood. It also doesnt matter about her family rising to power because of the marriage, it will still balance the power struggle because her family doesnt belong to any faction. Also her father and brother are still respected through their work
and the fl earned the achievements herself and recognized by the nobles so 💀
I read the manga she is not a dukes daughter (her family has a secret status that many would not know and they don’t plan to reveal it) that’s why ml tried hard to get the nobles to accept fl per negotiation because her family dont want to rely on their secret status to influence fl and help ml as they want him to prove that he is worthy of being her husband by getting the nobles to accept her and caring for him more than books within timeframe. Which he has succeeded in this episode.

Porthya • 1 year ago

It's pointless to talk with you, what does her family's "secret staus" have to do with their public status everyone is aware of and is using to address them?!? If they're some secret intelligence operators or whatever else is besides the point, what is shown in story, publicly, is what is also seen by other nobles and used, for better or for worse.

Seiryuu Knightwalker • 1 year ago

Actually Elianna's family wasn't really that low ranked, at least according to the manga, they are a marquis family. and her grandfather might be of an even higher rank, because the prince referred to him quite respectfully in the manga. And her family actually had quite abit of influence (it's something that's not widely known tho, only select few nobles and the royals knew of the true 'power' of the Bernstein.)

There seems to be some errors in the subtitles, so it might be easy to misunderstand, without reading the manga. Pretty sure Irene's family is a barony NOT a dukedom. And Eliana's family is NOT a barony. Also, in the last incident that the audience said about the food stockpile, they didn't pay back their debt to Maldura. It's they made Maldura owe them a debt. (Because Eliana, with some help from some people, read books and analysed past records then realised that there was a high chance that there will be cold front that will result in a food shortage for Maldura, hence, they stockpiled plenty of food "just in case" their prediction really came true. Which it did.

Seosamh Wray • 1 year ago

Were these events actually featured in the manga? I dropped this series because of the stupidly rushed romance and all these apparent great deeds that we never saw. I just couldn't be bothered to continue with it or look at the manga or web novel (if there is one).

Seiryuu Knightwalker • 1 year ago

All else aside, can actually find out about Irene's family's noble rank by hearing what the Prince called him. (Chiishaku as I heard it, not too sure now actually, cause I just found out from Google-sensei that baron is actually "Danshaku" Tho they were a barony in the manga. But anyway, if Irene's family were a duke rank, the prince would have called him Koushaku instead)

Seiryuu Knightwalker • 1 year ago

And about the Bernstein's family's influence, because members of the family are bookworms, that's why they possess alot of knowledge, her father and brother were also skilled enough to be able to apply their vast knowledge to their jobs, resulting in them becoming irreplaceable people in their respective jobs. Hence, if something really happened that will cause the downfall of the Bernstein, the royals and the government will be in big trouble as they can't function properly without the Bersteins's help.

All according to keikaku

Who knows? It could've been anything.

Biig Woonie • 1 year ago

Pretty sure the prince wasn't in on it, otherwise why would he say 'Good Grief. I'm constantly telling alec to quit doing that' (referring to alec giving her books to carry back to the archives).

I guess they could have known since they had the 'secret pawn' who is no longer much of a secret pawn

Ohms Nuttachai • 1 year ago

Elianna: "I never knew a bibliophile princess like me could be so active"
That line cracked me up more than I thought it should lol

This is the second show with a b*tch trying to fault accusing our main girl. And the prince unintentionally made things more awkward was totally a facepalm moment. But I am happy this was resolved cleanly in one episode.

And, goodbye to a fake fiance, and welcome the bibliophile queen!

GreenTea Gal • 1 year ago

lol she actually referred to herSELF as bibliophile princess?!

Ohms Nuttachai • 1 year ago

I believe she has acknowledged that about herself since the first episode but you can check 10:18 of this episode again. I double checked and she really said that lol

Veldora • 1 year ago

Eli do be cracking jokes. Like, she magically got enough strength while reading books all day.
After everything, it just seems funny what the prince did.

MrBojingo • 1 year ago

tbh, if this is your second show, then you must not be watching alot of these. Also, i guess because you said "show", then its exclusive to anime. In which case, there aren't alot of these types of anime. But there are hundreds of these in manhwa/manhua form. There's as many of them in manhwa as there are isekai in anime.

Ohms Nuttachai • 1 year ago

When I mentioned show I mean this season anime and yes, I watch a lot of these. This is quite common in Asian drama and I'm Asian; I grew up with it.

Lucyw18 • 1 year ago

yep a lot of isekai

ChosenOneX • 1 year ago

Irene was your classic shoujo antagonist. Well, she and her father got what they deserved. But damn, even though I knew what was gonna happen, the beginning felt pretty depressing for me.
Eliana must be treasured and protected - no one hurts our Bibliophile princess. She is smart, cute, and beautiful. It was nice to see all the people telling about what good she has done for the kingdom.
The prince did an amazing job this episode, by the way.
Also - I absolutely love the ED.

Ohms Nuttachai • 1 year ago

I really wanted to slap the prince. The way he put it like "I arranged a secret rendezvous with another girl because I knew you were away" was soooo frustrating. Yes, he was panicking but come on!

Veldora • 1 year ago

Yeah, the way he perfectly acted it out...

TwinklingMind • 1 year ago

Lol I don’t think he planned on Eli going to his office that day

Kahale • 1 year ago

nope. he made it worse when he said he thought she was going to see her aunt lol.

Veldora • 1 year ago

Wasn't just me who thought of it as depressing at the beginning!
Also, yes, Eliana is pretty great. The achievements she has achieved are not simple ones.

MeguminExplosion • 1 year ago

Food for thought. So its ok if a hot prince entraps his fiance, but when its an ugly bastard its not? Or what if the roles were reversed a queen entraps the prince. I felt like that planning and announcement at the end there just raised the pressure and stakes threefolds for the FMC. Having servants and nobles acknowledge your fiance as a potential queen is not a small thing.

wwlaos • 1 year ago

She already agreed to the engagement years ago... it's her own fault if she feels "entrapped" NOW. :P Sure, he made it public, but it's not like it was actually news to anyone there.

Ugly bastard or ikemen prince is irrelevant here, there's no entrapment to begin with. Only her own confusion about how much she means to the prince.

krybaby_97 • 1 year ago

well in this case it's ok because she likes the prince already...so knowing that he's "trapping" her, she should now understand that he likes her too and wants to keep her by his side through marriage

Aiiko • 1 year ago

She didnt have any interest besides book. She is not a book worm but a bibliophile. Although he tricked her by saying it’s a fake engagement to get people off his and her back, he wouldve had to give her up if he didnt meet the deadline her grandpa gave him. So now that he has achieved his goals he can be truthful to his intentions. And fl has fallen for him so whats the used of being negative? It has nothing to do with being good looking or not. As long as they both feel same way in the end then the engagement would continue. Otherwise he wouldn’t be able to force her to actually marry if she didnt want too. Her family is not weak.

clown • 1 year ago

I liked where it was going... this ended up being same as every other :(

Wolfie Song114 • 1 year ago

the amount of manhwa I've read where the drama from the fmc being accused lasts months...
lets just say this is a releaf it gets so frustrating when someone that has known the mc for YEARS is so fast to accuse them of something that goes so against their personality
